***My Weekend Vacation travels for Feb.2008***

I am not really a "travel bug", as people say for people who are always on the go for travels, but I would look forward to travel "locally" if opportunity (financial and time-wise) strikes. Two of the most recent travels I made are in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte; and Puerto Princesa, Palawan. I was able to take a longer weekend -offs during the past two weeks of February to accompany my Uncle and Aunt in their Philippine vacation to escape the winter in Seattle. I am chronicling my two out-of-town travels in two succeeding weeks in two opposite directions, northern-most tip of Luzon and the South-western part of the Philippines. First trip, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte - Feb.8-10 This trip has been one of the most memorable and challenging trips I ever encountered because this is actually the longest land-travel time I have experienced in my entire years of living. This is approximately 566 Kms. North of Manila or actually the Northernmost part of Luzon. If 566 Kms will be tra...

It's time everyone flies...but with Cebu Pacific? Not anymore...

I am going to set this one straight...this has been Cebu Pacific's catch phrase for their air transportation services, "Cebu Pacific Air - It's time everyone (every Filipino) flies". I would like to share this horror experiences I encountered with Cebu Pacific, from ticketing up to actual date of departure. So here goes the story: It was January 9, 2008 that I decided to book a flight for 7 PAX to Puerto Princesa. I booked via their Customer Service Hotline Number. I was booked for a roundtrip ticket from MNL - Puerto Princesa and vice versa. I was given a confirmation day on January 12, 2008 on/before 3:00 PM. Ticket fare is P4,515 per head. Came January 12, 2008, a Saturday - I made my way to their ticketing office in Robinson's place, Manila to confirm booking and pay for the tickets. It was a rainy Saturday and I wasn't able to get on time (before 3:00 PM), but fortunately, I was able to have the confirmation time extended upon informing the Ticketing Agen...

Start 2008, A new Fam Car

My brother has always been the most successful in the family-career wise. He worked in Singaporethe past 9 years and went back at home for good in 2006. Eversince he went back, he was hired by a major global financial institution as a Project Management Consultant - He was there for a year as a consultantand the time came when he was offered regular post by that same financial institution, this happened before last yearends around November 2007. One of the perks he had was a car subsidy from the company- a car of his choicefor which the company will initially shoulder the cost to purchase and 50% split of the cost to be paid by my brother on a fixed rate per month for a couple of years. He opted to get a SUV from Ford, the Ford Escape4x2 Automatic Transmission SUV. I am really not a car enthusiast but I would say it was rather a nice choice. We've had a family car for six years now which is a Mitsubishi Adventure model 2002-the same car that had tried the tests of time with numerous...

A new year, A new blog

This has been the first time for me to blog again eversince time immemorial. Let me start first be greeting everyone a Happy New Year for 2008!- and I hope I am not too late to send out my greeting. Better late than never! right? I just hope everyone started the year right, so that everything that'll happen for this year will be on-track. At the startof the year, I promised myself never to be late ever! But up to now, I have yet to fulfill that promise. I don't know what instigated this habit of mine-but I really have a tendency to be Late. I habited myself with being Late at work (not unlessit is required or necessary for me to report for work early), going to church (for which my wifey always gives me a frownwhen we meet for church). There are some things that I do not know why my Lateness became a habit, and I am reallydreading to change it...for Good! One of my problems really, apart from being Late, is not being able to manage my Time efficiently. There are mostlytimes whe...

Another sets of firsts for me

Last week was a rather another set(s) of first experiences for me. It was my first online purchase in ebay, and my first also to meet-up an absolutely unknown seller from ebay. It was quite a nervous experience for me since at the back of my mind, I was thinking what if I was faked? What if the product being sold to me was defective? Well anyway, the product I bought over ebay was a motorola v3xx mobile phone. I did not have any second thoughts of buying this phone since I really want to upgrade to a 3G phone - it has almost been two years that I had my 2G phone which is a sony ericsson k750i; and because it is sold at a relatively cheap price - P7,000 for a month old used phone, complete with accessories. Standard market price at the market is P17,000 for a brand new one. Immediately upon finding this ad in ebay, I contacted the seller - who turned out to be an american expat currently based here in manila. Still I was quite nervous because my first online transaction is from an expat...

iTunes

Thank God for Itunes. It is no hassle to organize the iPOD. One of the features that really sets the iPOD apart from the rest of MP/Video players is the iTunes. Eventhough my PC has been slowing down due to numerous files that eats up the primary drive. I just have to constantly remiond myself to back-up the large files (MP3s and Video) but really haven't found the time to do this yet even during the weekends. I usually have thi laziness occuring within me to backup files since I have a hard time even imagining of having the PC finish disk copying the Gigabytes of files. Problem # 2 has got to do with my PC shutting down by itself. Suspect is the power supply as always. I have to admit that this PC i already heavy-loaded with tons of apparatus.
